Launched in January 2025, OASIS is an international biomedical research program coordinated by Gustave Roussy. It brings together a consortium of 12 partners across Europe, united by a common goal: improving cancer treatment.

Launched in January 2025, OASIS is an international biomedical research program coordinated by Gustave Roussy. It brings together a consortium of 12 partners across Europe, united by a common goal: improving cancer treatment.
Among them are industrial partners such as Olink Proteomics AB, as well as two biomedical start-ups spun out of Gustave Roussy — Elikya Therapeutics and Orakl Oncology. The project also includes academic partners such as CentraleSupélec, UNICANCER, Inserm, the Jules Bordet Institute, the Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission (CEA), the University of Athens, and the University Hospital of Heraklion in Crete, as well as the Cancer Patients Europe patient association.
Gustave Roussy - Coordinator of the program
Gustave Roussy is Europe’s first cancer center, bringing together 4,000 professionals on a single site dedicated to care, research, and education in oncology. The institute treats both adults and children with common or rare cancers, at all stages of the disease, in a facility where medical care, research, and teaching are closely integrated. Its expertise and cutting-edge clinical practices make it a reference center in France and internationally.
Gustave Roussy also upholds a long-standing tradition of patient-centered care, driven by the belief that beyond medical and scientific excellence, quality care also means supporting the person as a whole.
It is a non-profit private healthcare institution of collective interest (ESPIC), authorized to receive donations and bequests. Gustave Roussy is part of the network of 20 French Comprehensive Cancer Centers (CLCC), a special status established by the French Public Health Code.

As the leading academic sponsor of oncology clinical trials in Europe, UNICANCER is recognized for its expertise in both clinical and translational research. The organization supports nearly 700 clinical trials each year and cares for more than 530,000 patients annually.
Its R&D division, along with all CLCCs, is ISO 9001:2015 certified for excellence in clinical research. Within the OASIS project, UNICANCER coordinates the clinical trials conducted across participating countries, including France, Belgium, and Greece.

INSERM (French National Institute of Health and Medical Research) is the only French public organization fully dedicated to research on human health. Its mission is to promote the health of all by advancing knowledge of living organisms and diseases, fostering therapeutic innovation, and developing public health research.
Three INSERM research units are involved in the OASIS project:
- Unit U1279, led by Guillaume Montagnac, focuses on tumor cell dynamics and the cellular mechanisms involved in tumor invasion.
- Unit U981, led by Fabrice André (a highly cited researcher), specializes in decoding the molecular landscapes of cancers, with a particular focus on new drugs, characterization of treatment-persistent cells, and understanding the driving mechanisms of genomic evolution.
- UMR 1018 / Center for Research in Epidemiology and Population Health, one of the largest public health laboratories in France, mobilizes the Oncostat team led by Stefan Michiels, providing expertise in clinical trial methodology and statistical analysis.

Its Mathematics and Computer Science Laboratory (MICS), specialized in the analysis of complex systems and data, has been conducting in-depth oncology research for several years through a strategic partnership with Gustave Roussy within the IHU PRISM, the national center for precision medicine in oncology.
Within the OASIS program, CentraleSupélec plays a key role in developing algorithms for AI-based analysis of tumor biopsies, as well as in creating the predictive score for response and toxicity to ADCs based on clinical, molecular, and imaging data.

Within the OASIS project, the CEA's medical imaging department — including radiological, nuclear, and ultrasound imaging — will develop new radiotracers to perform PET scans evaluating the expression of certain ADC targets such as TROP2 and NECTIN-4.

It develops new generations of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) based on innovative toxic payload technologies (ELY475 and ELY313) with a differentiated mode of action capable of targeting both the tumor and its microenvironment.
Within the OASIS project, Elikya will be responsible for developing a new ADC, designed using data generated by the project, aiming to overcome resistance to ADCs currently used in clinical practice.

Orakl holds a unique and exclusive license on the expertise developed at the Institut Gustave Roussy (IGR), which has generated over 150 patient-derived organoids (PDOs) from colorectal and pancreatic cancer biopsies — preserved and thoroughly characterized (omics and histopathology), with verified and structured clinical and molecular data feeding an AI predictive engine dedicated to speeding up drug development programs.
Within the OASIS project, ORAKL contributes its expertise in developing organoids derived from tumor biopsies and conducting complex analyses to identify the mechanisms involved in resistance to ADCs.

The Institut Jules Bordet (IJB) is a unique, integrated, and multidisciplinary center in Belgium, internationally recognized and fully dedicated to the care of cancer patients. The IJB's Nuclear Medicine Department is a pioneer in molecular imaging and theranostic approaches, having developed and implemented several radiotracers for the first time, including Zr89-trastuzumab, Ac225-Dotatate, and Lu177-PSMA.
Within the OASIS project, the IJB will develop a PET scan using Zr89-trastuzumab to predict response to trastuzumab deruxtecan (an ADC targeting HER2) in patients participating in the study in Belgium.

Within the OASIS project, UoC is represented by the Department of Medical Oncology, which provides comprehensive cancer care services — evaluating around 1,000 new cancer cases each year, operating a day-care unit for outpatient treatments, managing inpatient admissions, and conducting outpatient consultations for approximately 7,500 patients.
The department is also actively engaged in translational research through its affiliated Laboratory of Translational Oncology, which focuses on the molecular characterization of tumors and liquid biopsy components, aiming to identify predictive and prognostic biomarkers that support personalized cancer therapy.
